What is WPCredits?
WPCredits is a program at Universidad Fidélitas that integrates contributing to the WordPress ecosystem as a formal component of the curriculum. It is the first institution in Latin America to do so.
My area of contribution:
Polyglots I chose the Polyglots team because it allows me to contribute directly and verifiably to the software used by millions of people.
My job consists of translating WordPress text strings into Costa Rican Spanish (es_CR) on translate.wordpress.org.
Project goal
Translate at least 100 strings into Costa Rican Spanish
Document the process in 8 blog posts
My 8-stage work plan
- Introduction and starting point – Why I chose Polyglots, what I know before starting, and what tools I need.
- Setup and first access – Logging into translate.wordpress.org and first contact with the Astra theme strings in es_CR.
- First concrete action – First strings translated and submitted, with visual evidence.
- Second batch and progress – Continuing the translation process, describing what I learned and any issues found.
- Challenge or turning point – A specific obstacle encountered and how I solved it, or a significant partial result.
- New batch or plan adjustment – Next round of translations or any adjustments to the workflow.
- Final result and delivery – Total strings submitted, link to my profile on translate.wordpress.org showing contributions.
- Reflection and learning – What I learned, what I would do differently, and how this connects to the global WordPress community.
